Human Male Topology 3.0
I have a new 3D model that you can download for free. I've been working with another talented artist, Russell Barton, to try and work out the topology from my previous model in order to build a base mesh that can not only be used to generated a male model but a female model as well.
This model comes with pre-defined polygroups, UV's and some extra subtools that should easily help you realize your own character without having to worry about the technical details to get up and sculpting as fast as possible.
The model also comes with 3 3D layers, armsUp, armsToSide and mouthOpen.
I'm creating a new website to house all the models that I have created with this topology at digital3dmodels.com
CLICK HERE TO GO TO DOWNLOAD PAGE
I hope you enjoy using this model. Please post back and let me know what you are using the model for, I always get a kick out of seeing someone take my meshes and turn them into their own creations!
Peace,
NickZ. :)

Launch of Digital3DModels.com
As you can see from this blog, I tend to give a lot of my work away. Well I have been working behind the scenes for a few months making a new website where I can share my digital models in a High Quality capacity.
On Monday the 12th of September 2011 the site went live. I created a new thread on ZBrush Central talking about the new website Digital3DModels.com
On the site there is a "Free Materials" Section. go and check out what is available for free on the site.

DynaAngler ZBrush 4R2 (FREE)
In response to the latest release of ZBrush 4R2 I am making available my first mini project since I downloaded the latest rev.

I really love the new Dynamesh. This really is a game changer. What an awesome tool that we now have as digital sculptors to create things out of thin air purely from our imaginations. I have really been waiting for the day that digital sculpting had many of the easy shape creation and manipulation qualities that we have in the real world. Dynamesh is one step closer to that reality.
For this creature I created I started off with a sphere and used the snake hook brush to pull out some arm like shapes, then I quickly changed the mesh over to Dynamesh and used a combination of claytubes brush, damn_standard brush and two custom insertBrushes that I created.
I also wanted to learn a little bit about the new waxshader and how to blend materials together using either the double or triple materials.
I added this model and these shaders to my free start up project to produce the BPR renders.
If you don't have the latest version of ZBrush and you want to check out the models, I have included the body and the eyes as OBJ files so you can load the models into any 3D application.
I also included the two custom (sucker and a tooth) insertBrushes that I created for the project as well.
This is just my small way of saying thanks to the Pixologic crew for all their hard work, dedication and love for us digital artist! You guys rock!!!

Human Male Concept Creation File (Free)
I made this Photoshop file to help speed up wearable/costume/gear creation for a human male character. I took Front, Left, Right, Rear and 3/4 view shots of my human male character and created an easy to use Photoshop file that should aid in creating new wearables/costumes/gear. There is also an example costume that I am creating if you would like to see how I approach layer creation inside of Photoshop.

Comic Book Digital Ink Brushes V2 (Photoshop)
I have been adding brushes to the list for doing digital sketching and inking in Photoshop. These are saved out as tool presets. There are more than brushes but I will leave that up to you to figure everything out. Hint, if you are doing color flats then use the Pencil tool instead of the brush tool. If you are selecting your pencil flats, I made a special magic wand tool for correct selection as well. You may use these brushes for anything you wish, commercial or non commercial. Just tell your friends if you find them useful!

3RD Eye Blind (FREE ZTool Download)
I finished a little mini project for myself and I thought I would share my work with everyone.
First I was snooping around on the Freedom Of Teach website and I saw there was a “CG Practice Model Download”. I thought it might have been the hi res model that they used to generate their 3D print, but it was just an base mesh with no detail. I’m not sure why but I just stared sculpting on it. ( really didn't need to start anything new at this point.)
At first I was going to do just another organic model but I was rather impressed and inspired by the hard surface modeling that FoOD and Sebcesoir have been generating inside of Zbrush lately. So I gave it a try and here are the results.

I used masks quite a bit. The clay tubes brush worked rather nicely for building up flat surfaces along with the flatten brush and of course the smooth brush to clean up some of my mistakes. I also used the lazy mouse with the standard brush and a custom alpha for generating strait lines.
I found that using some of these custom alphas that I made with the standard brush, with lazy mouse turned on and a lazy step of .01 gave me rather nice results for long smooth thin lines.

I also created a few custom Material Capture shaders for sculpting.

I built a Photoshop file that makes it kinda easy to generate new MatCap shaders. I things on layers to control the over all shading of the material, you can get custom control of a shader if you want to build a MatCapwith this file.

After the model was complete I used Zapplink and Photoshop to build a base color texture. I also wanted to learn more about lighting and baking that to a texture in Maya. So for the color and lit version of the texture I created several passes that separated out the lights, the shadows, Ambient Occlusion (created in XNormal) and then cavity mapping created with ZMapper.

If you would like to download a package with all of this material

This Zipp file contains:
Hi Res Zbrush Model
Color Texture (4096 X 4096)
Color and Lighting Texture (4096 X 4096)
5 Custom MatCap Materials
4 Custom Alphas
Layered Photoshop file with all the lighting and color passes (1024 X 1024)
Layered Photoshop file to help build your own custom MatCap Shader.
Maya 2008 Light Rig Scene
When you load the .ZTL file it will be filled with the color white and have the MatCap Grey material already applied to it. If you would like to apply a different material to the object turn on MRGB, choose the Flat Color shader and go Color>Fill Color. You can now pick any shader you wish to view the model with.

If you load the color texture I provided I suggest using the MatCap Pearl Cavity shader to look at the model.
If you use the color and lit texture that I provided then you will need to apply the Flat Color material with the texture applied to view the model correctly.
You will also need to flip the texture vertically.
I hope you enjoy! :)
Peace-NickZ. :)
I just wanted to post one last pic. I got my 3D print in the mail and I just wanted to say a big thanks to Gabriel from CRYSTALLINE MODELS for making this print possible!
Here is a shot to show off the scale of the final print.

NickZ. Fun In The Mud
I was trying out the new demo of Mudbox 2009, loaded up their default head and sculpted this bust. I then baked out an Ambient Occlusion map using their map baking tool. Speed is pretty good for baking out an AO map. They have added a lot of nice things to this version! In the Zip file there is a Mud 2009 file, an OBJ at the highest sub D level in case you want to view the model in another application and the AO map is saved out as a PNG.

ZBrush: Using Photos As Displacement
I have a new tutorial up on thegnomonworkshop.com
ZBrush: Using Photos As Displacement
In this tutorial we will be taking a look at how we can use Photos as mask to build controlled displacement on our model inside of ZBrush. We will be using textures, alphas, Zbrush deformation tools and 3D layers. The Final 3D ZTool and images will be provided with the tutorial.

File has been updated as of March 22, 2015. I updated download link, added a Zremesher low resolution version as an obj, a high resolution version as an obj, created a new project file for ZBrush 4R6, cleaned up the old meshes that are in subtool parts, set everything up to render with BPR render. Added this all to one easy to download ZIP file.Hope you all enjoy! :)
